Cobalt Blue Floral Stamp Decorated Stoneware Jug, attributed to Clarkson Crolius, New York City, c. 1800, ovoid form with seven die-stamped rosettes around the shoulder and one under the handle, (minor imperfections), ht. 14 1/2 in. Literature: A jar with similar floral stamp decoration, also attributed to Clarkson Crolius, is illustrated in Decorated Stoneware Pottery of North America, by Donald Blake Webster, Charles E. Tuttle Company Inc., Rutland, Vermont, p. 167. The salt glaze is crazed mainly around the center with some flaking of surface, a 1 1/2 in. dia. smooth glazed area (possibly a clay or firing irregularity at the most bulbous portion at rhe rear has a spreading hairline throught it.
