69th New York Infantry Memorial Inlaid Wooden Plaque, late 19th/early 20th century, rectangular plaque inlaid with contrasting wooden segments having an inscription reading: "IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE BRAVE 69th N. Y.," with an eagle, cross and heart motif, leafy tree, flag-topped monument, soldier with sword and rifle, and a harp, accented with hearts, stars, and acorns, (plaque slightly bowed), 10 1/4 x 12 5/8 in. Note: The 69th New York Infantry, the Irish Brigade, or the "Fighting 69th," consisted predominantly of Irish immigrants from New York City's Fourth Ward, and served in the Union Army in the American Civil War, and continued in later wars. A few minor cracks and minor surface marring.
