Three Mochaware Mugs, Britain, 19th century, two pearlware mugs, one banded with black, rust, and green, with intersecting zigzag earthworm slip decoration, the other with bands of slate blue and black flanking a wide rust band with looping earthworm slip decoration; and a yellowware mug with thin blue bands flanking a medial band with blue, white, and black zigzag earthworm decoration, (imperfections), ht. 4 3/4, 4 7/8, 3 1/2 in., respectively. Provenance: The yellowware mug previously in the Jonathan Rickard collection and exhibited at the Jones Museum, Maine, in 1996, with respective labels on base. mug with intersecting zigzag earthworm dec.- 2 approx. 3 in. hairlines on sides, llopping earthworm dec. mug-4 hairlines down sides, approx. 1 1/2, 2, 3 and 4 in. lg.; yellowware mug- two hairlines down sides 1 1/2, 2 in., four c small base edge hairlines.
