Miniature Portrait-mounted Tortoiseshell and Gold-lined Box, England/France, early 19th century, rectangular box with clipped corners, with gold-lined interior, the hinged lid mounted with a portrait of a young lady in white with a Norwich shawl around her shoulders, (possibly on ivory), within engraved gold surround, mounted under glass, portrait sight size 2 1/2 x 2, box 3 5/8 x 2 3/4 in. interior gold test at approx. 14kt. shrinkage cracks to shell at upper right corner of lid, and lower right and left corners at base. portrait unsigned.
