Victorian Renaissance Revival Gold-washed Silver Tazza, London, 1870, makers' mark JF EH, dish rim chased and embossed with grotesque masks amidst floral strapwork, applied reeded rim accented by bellflower columns, on egg-form stem cast with roundels of industrious cherubs, with octagonal flattened knop accented with beads, on two-tiered domed and spreading foot, engraved throughout with foliate strapwork and birds, ht. 8, dia. 10 in., approx. 27 troy oz. plate pushed down onto stem slightly, and sloping down to one side, making it dia. 7 3/4 at that spot. some rubbing to goldwash. and wear to surface decoration from cleaning (particularly to grotesque masks at plate rim). hallmarked to plate and to base (marks good).
