Assembled Set of Ten French and French Hallmarked Silver Mess Bowls, late 18th to mid-19th century, various makers, comprising five . 800 fine, four of these engraved with name and dated 1791, 1792, 1793 and 1797, and three .950 fine, each engraved with name and dated 1826, 1845, and 1848, sold with two bearing only French import marks, engraved with names, but undated, each ovoid, with short handles ending in scrolls, lion masks, or ram's heads, on domed trumpet feet, some with ovolo rims, ht. to approx. 5, dia. 4 1/4 to 5 1/2 in., approx. 64 troy oz. total. denting and usage wear throughout. one of the imported examples with repaired tear at upper rim and repairs to join of one handle.
