Five Sterling and Silver Plate Matchsafes, late 19th to early 20th century, four American sterling: embossed with a coiled snake to perimeter, inlaid with turquoise cabochons for the monogram C, acid-etched with vines and rampant lions, and engraved with wildflowers; two silver plate: a seltzer bottle-form engraved Camwal, and a ram's head form, with gutta percha or Bakelite horns and faceted red stone eyes, lg. 1 1/2 to 2 3/4 in., approx. 3 troy oz. plated: bottle: plating essentially gone, with minor base rim wear. minor wear to plating of ram. silver: 2 light dings to one side of snake box. ding to back of engraved box. turquoise monogram engraved to back "Irene to W.E. Coates". all with some minor light usage wear.
