Gorham Sterling Shell-form Aesthetic Movement Serving Dish, 1870, the shell-form body with stippled and lightly gold-washed interior, raised on three openwork scroll legs topped by calla lily stems, the rear leg further topped by an inwardly curving leaf mounted with a realistically modeled crayfish or lobster, monogrammed, ht. 7, lg. 12 1/4 in., approx. 29 troy oz. numbered 135. calla lily below lobster possibly missing its stamen. lobster lacking on of its long antennae. pinpoint to interior. spot of brown pitting to interior. tarnish and minor age wear.
