Nine Silver and Silver Plate Matchsafes, late 19th-early 20th century, four sterling: a Watson with Art Nouveau daisies, a Gorham with Renaissance Revival scrolls and grotesque masks, a scroll edged, and a seahorse and dolphin embossed; an Italian .800 silver engraved matchbook cover; four plated: an Art Nouveau maiden with water lilies, a cylindrical with high relief decoration of reveling peasants, a book-form match/stamp box, and a horse head match/cigar cutter, lg. 1 7/8 to 2 3/4 in., approx. 3 troy oz. weighable silver. all the silverplate examples with wear to the plating (the horsehead basically without silvering). Seahorse & Dolphin: a few minor pinpoints Ren. Rev. Scrolls/Masks: light denting throughout. Daisies: engraving worn or obliterated to one side.
