Eleven Sterling and Silver Plate Matchsafes, late 19th to early 20th century, four American: a Gorham Aesthetic Movement, two Rococo scrolled, and a Renaissance Revival fire-breathing dragon decorated; four English: a rectangular scroll engraved, Chester, 1913, an oval scroll engraved, Birmingham, 1907, and one engraved with playing card suits to each corner, Birmingham, 1907; and four silver plate: an Egyptian Revival mask-decorated, a book-form, an owl head, and a turtle form with faux-shell shell, and green cabochon eyes, monograms, lg. 1 3/4 to 2 5/8 in., approx. 5 troy oz. weighable silver. english: oval with some body dings. rectangular with tiny spot of loss to silver at edge of lid near hinge and some body denting. plated: owl, book, and Egyptian Revival with wear to plating. all with some minor age-typical usage wear.
