Spanish Colonial Style Nuestra Señora del Pinar Inscribed "RA/N. S. del Pinar Que se Ven./en la Villa Canaberas O BP... del Cuenca" in a cartouche l.c., with a label from Foster Brothers, Boston, on the backing. Reverse-painting on glass, sight size 7 3/16 x 4 1/2 in. (18.3 x 12.0 cm), framed. Condition: Paint losses, not examined out of the frame. There are two labels on the paper backing of the frame. One is from Foster Brothers, Boston, and the second is stamped "OF FINE ARTS/MASS. 02115" in red and is inscribed "83B/Mrs. S. Paine." Translation of text: Our Lady of Pinar (forest of pine trees) venerated at The Town of Cañaveras, BIshopry of Cuenca. The piece may relate to the appearance of the Virgin Mary in Uruguay.
