Italian Violin, Giovanni Grancino, Milan, c. 1690, bearing the maker's label, the back of fine curl, the ribs of faint curl, the scroll of fine curl, the top of medium grain, the varnish of a golden color, length of two-piece back 353 mm, with case. Certificate: Etienne Vatelot, Paris, December 12, 1991. Very good, repaired face crack at upper eye of bass side, extending under bridge foot, approx. 12 cm. (Does not extend to lower edge) Repaired ff hole wing crack, bass side. Inlaid soundpost patch in top. Wingtip replaced on bass side. Edge of ff hole replaced, treble side, approx. 3.2 cm long. Varnish surface of top very pure. Repaired hairline crack to back near treble edge, approx. 8.5 cm. Button and upper edge replacement at top of back. Small repaired hairline fracture at lower bass corner of back. Pegholes bushed. Inlay repairs to chin of scroll, bass side, and outer pegbox wall, treble side. One-pice lower rib, upper rib mismatched but varnish appears to match under UV.
