Italian Violin, Giovanni Baptista Ceruti, Cremona, 1803, bearing the original label JO: BAPTISTA CERUTI CREMONENSIS, FECIT CREMONAE AN 1803, GBC, and stamped 8549 at fingerboard end, the back, ribs, and scroll of matching fine curl, the top of fine to medium grain, the varnish of a brown color, length of two-piece back 359 mm, with case. Certificate: W.E. Hill & Sons, London, July 12, 1905. Pegholes bushed, slight hairline top crack near top treble side neck joint, hairline crack at bottom treble edge (6.5 cm) and at lower lobe of bass ff (4 cm). Varnish surface shows pure under UV scan, retouch at neck heel and peghole bushings.
