Italian Violin, Pietro Guarneri, Venice, 1734, bearing the original label, PETRUS GUARNERIUS FILIUS JOSEPH, CREMONENSIS FECIT VENITIIS, ANNO 1734, the back of strong curl, the ribs and scroll of fine to medium curl, the top of fine to medium grain, the varnish of a red-brown color, length of one-piece back 354 mm, (the scroll possibly by another hand. ) Certificates: W.E. Hill and Sons, London, December 22, 1905; R.S. Williams & Sons, Toronto, April 23, 1907. Original label, interior underlayment in all cracked areas of top and back, repaired hairline crack near center of back , repaired hairline cracks in lower bouts, button repair. Inlaid breast patch to top. Complete inlay repairs to all worm damage in top and back. Repaired rib crack, upper treble rib, rib graft in upper bass side rib at neck joint.
