Northern Italian Violoncello, Storioni School, c. 1800, labeled LAURENTIUS STORIONI FECIT, CREMONAE 1775, the top of fine to medium grain, the half-slab cut back of fine curl, the ribs and matching scroll of fine curl, length of one-piece back 72.3 cm. Note: Sold with dendrochronology analysis by John Topham, Red Hill, Surrey, February 20, 2010, stating that the "most significant cross-matching date obtained for the youngest rings measured on the bass and treble sides of the front was AD1717 and AD1713 respectively." Very good. Repaired hairline crack, bass side from lower lobe of ff to bottom edge, repaired hairline saddle cracks, two small inlay repairs to lower back.
