Brass Surveying Vernier Compass by Brown and Hunt, New York, 5 1/2 in. dia. silvered brass engraved dial signed Brown & Hunt, New York , fleur-de-lis at North, other cardinal points in block lettering, needle ring engraved 0-90 in four quadrants, central engraved ribband, blued steel needle, limbs with vernier adjustment dial and thumb screw, "T" vials, screw on sights and ball head tripod attachment, lg. 15 in. Instrument in old surface, remains of original silvering on dial, blued needle repaired at end.
