Historic Painted Muslin Depicting the Ute Bear Dance, c. late 19th century, with wagons to the right of the dancers and spectators dressed in a circle, the flagpole flies a flag with standing bear and tree design, a Mormon preacher looks on in the lower left corner, to the upper left is a large green and yellow lizard, (stains), 58 x 40 in. Provenance: Collected by Howell Plummer Myton while working as U.S. Indian Agent on the Uintah Ute Indian Reservation in White Rocks, Utah, 1898-1904.
