Austrian Copper Enamel Boudoir Timepiece, Vienna, third quarter 19th century, flattened ovoid body enameled to rear surface with scene of Cupid bound, and three classical maidens breaking his bow, topped by a finial formed as a figure of Diana the huntress, with small ram's heads to sides, fitted with a pocket watch movement with glass front door, the enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial, and decorated with two 18th century maidens, the back of movement engraved for Ignazius Lichtenstern, Vienna, the interior of case decorated with a landscape scene, raised on knopped stem with Renaissance-style cherub and grotesque masks, trumpet foot with artist cherubs on gilt ground, ht. 8 1/2 in. Provenance: A Rhode Island estate. chips to enamel to top edge of case below finial; perimeter of case likely with old restorationwhich has now darkened . dial with small chip and center winding hole; wheel with repairs. lower front of case below dial with vertical chip. The case, stem, and foot somewhat loose, with some chipping between these elements at top of stem and top of foot. Overall age darkening to metal. no key present. clocks/timepieces not guaranteed to be in working order.
