Two Snuff Boxes, an English Victorian silver plate oval example, engraved with presentation inscription, and a German . 830 silver oval example, with Dutch-style stamped decoration; sold together with a modern Wallace sterling shell-form nut cup, and a Russian lacquer box with troika scene painted to lid, approx. 2 troy oz., (4 items total). Note: The presentation inscription on the silver plate box reads "Presented to W.T. Baker by the Inmates of the Plympton St. Mary's Union." The town of Plympton in Devon, England, opened the Plympton Lunatic Asylum in 1835, and the Plympton Workhouse, and the St. Mary's Poor Law Union in 1836. minor rosing to plate box, mainly at the inscribed shield. German box with minor surface wear from cleaning. Shell good. lacquer box with minor age wear, and some light craquelure to painting of lid.
