Gorham Sterling Medallion Butter Dish, 1869, round, the domed lid with quadripartite ram's head finial, engraved with anthemia band, and with Vitruvian scroll rim, the base with two profile medallions of classical warriors on engraved leaftip and scroll band, with loop handles centered by Egyptian masks, interior with removable drainer, on short feet, ht. 6 1/4 in., approx. 19 troy oz. liner possibly plate (not included in weight listed). surface wear from cleaning, including loss of detail to the Egyptian masks. lid monogrammed with date 1869.
