Georg Jensen Sterling Fish Platter, 1915-32, no. 230, oval, the rim applied with stylized flowering vine, lg. 23 1/4 in., approx. 54 troy oz. Provenance: Engraved to underside with owner's name, "Gordon Mendelssohn," and the name of his yacht, "Quartermore." This platter were part of a suite of Jensen tableware used on the vessel. Mendelssohn was a wealthy notable in Detroit, Michigan, and a patron of the arts. The Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre at the University of Michigan was built through a donation Mendelssohn's in honor of his mother. overall minor usage wear, including some wear to raised surface decoration, and knife marks.
