Wood & Hughes Coin Silver Butter Dish, mid-19th century, the domed lid with finial formed as a mask of a goddess, framed in beading, lid chased and embossed with band of husks and acanthus cartouches, the ovoid body with small openwork angular handles ending in further goddess masks, gold-washed strainer to interior, on spreading foot, monogrammed, ht. 6 1/4 in., approx. 17 troy oz. finial with slight bend to tip. lid with light, unobtrusive ding at spot on waist band. light wear to goldwash of removable strainer. base of dish showing light dings. overall minor age wear.
