Modern Painting, China, ink and colors on paper, depiction of birds and red leaves in the style of Teng Changyou, inscribed, signed "Daqian ju shi Yuan at Dunhuang Mogao Grotto," dated the ninth month of xinyi year (1941), mounted in hanging scroll format, with three seals, 27 1/2 x 12 1/4 in. Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of the family of Yeh Gongchao (George Yeh) (1904-1981). N.B. Yeh Gongchao was the head of the Administration of the Foreign Affairs of Republic of China from 1950-1956, and was the ambassador to the United States from 1956-1961.
