Kristján H. Magnússon (Icelandic/American, 1903-1937) Untitled [View with a Dory by a Dock] Signed and dated "K. Magnusson '25" l.r. Oil on canvas, 16 x 20 1/4 in., unframed. Condition: Loss to l.r. quadrant, craquelure, minor canvas deformations. N.B. Iceland-born Magnússon graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art (now MassArt) in 1926, and the following year, held a one-man show at the Copley Society. He also participated in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art Annual Exhibition of 1928. In 1929, Magnússon returned to Iceland where he continued to exhibit in Reykjavik, Isafjordur and London. Magnússon suffered an untimely death at the age of thirty-four, shortly after he returned from a painting trip to Borgardfjord.
