Louis XVI Giltwood and Tapestry-inset Firescreen, late 18th century, the arch-top frame carved with guilloche and leaftip, with two berry finials, on downswept trestle legs, set to front with a wool tapestry panel of a monogrammed shield within a foliate garlands, ht. 51, wd. 30 5/8 in. frame with overall minor age-typical gilt wear, and a few scattered, small spots of gold paint touch-ups. both front legs with a reglued break. one finial with edge losses to leaftip. reverse mounted with plain piece of wool fabric. the tapestry with professional reweave to lower border, and lower right corner, and small strip to center left corner; age typical fading, toning, and light soiling.
