$22,515
Italian Micromosaic Tabletop on Wrought Iron Base, the round tabletop finely inlaid with central roundel depicting the Doves of Pliny, encircled with eight panels of various scenes of Rome including St. Peters square, the Colosseum, and the Forum, all within malachite band and border of sections of specimen stone, set onto Renaissance Revival wrought iron base with four scrolled legs joined by serpentine stretchers and ending in paw feet, glass-topped, dia. 26 1/2, ht. 20 1/4 in. This table has been used outdoors, and has sustained water damage in the form of some spots of lifting to the micromosaics, and lines of lifting/corrosion of the masonry compound seeping through the tesserae (at central Dove roundel, and to several of the surrounding scenic panels). The Dove panel also shows some light surface chipping to the slate background. There are currently few, if any, losses to the tesserae. There are some loose edging pieces to the pietra dura outer perimeter, and some edge chips. The tabletop is covered over by a glass surface.
