Louis XIV-style Boullework and Ormolu-mounted Library Cabinet, late 19th century, rectangular, ebony veneered, with single glass-inset door enclosing shelves, frieze and door surround inlaid with brass scrollwork on tortoiseshell ground, mounted with ormolu putto herms, Minerva masks, acanthus scrolls, and guilloche trim throughout, ht. 45 1/2, wd. 33, dp. 15 1/8 in. veneers with some shrinkage cracking to sides and front. right side of case with vertical shrinkage crack extending from Minerva mask to base. top with some chipping to rear corners, and with age typical scuffs and edge nicks. Approx. six small losses to tortoiseshell. Brass scrollwork and shell raised up in a few spots. metal mounts with age darkening.
