Marc Louis Solon Decorated Pate-sur-Pate Tile, France, c. 1865, rectangular shape, green ground with white slip allegorical figures, inscribed Miles, the reverse signed Rousseau, 4 3/4 x 6 in.; mounted in a gilt wood frame. Note: Solon produced pate-sur-pate for the Parisian retailer Eugene Rousseau, usually signing his works for him Miles. Areas where glaze bubbled or misfired. Scattered chips to frame.
