Alexander Pope (American, 1849-1924) Head of a Male Lion Signed and dated "ALEXANDER POPE 9... " l.r., with a label from Foster Brothers Art Store, Boston, on the back of the frame. Oil on canvas, 24 x 20 in. (61.0 x 51.0 cm), in a frame with wooden bars affixed to the front. Condition: Tears to upper corners, surface grime. The painting was not removed from the frame, and the frame liner obscurred the date, which may read "97."
