Giustina Orsini (Italian, Late 19th Century) Prayer in the Desert Signed "G. Orsini" l.l., identified on a presentation plaque, titled and numbered "2327/..." on a label affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 18 3/16 x 40 1/8 in. (46.2 x 101.7 cm), framed. Condition: Patch reinforcement, craquelure, surface grime. While there was no fluorescence in the paint on the area on the front corresponding to the patch on the reverse, there are two patch reinforcements with resulting old retouch (visible only in raking light), one in the u.l. quadrant measuring approximately 2 x 3 in., the other to the l.r. quadrant measuring approximately 2 x 3 in., craquelure throughout, with subtle lifting u.r.
