Harry Van der Weyden (American, 1868-1952) The Shimmering Pond Signed and dated "H. Van der Weyden/ 1902" l.r. Oil on canvas, 23 3/4 x 28 3/4 in. (60.3 x 73.0 cm), unframed. Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, abrasions. Retouch along a 16-in. vertical line, 5 in. in from the left side; other areas of retouch in u.l. quadrant, including one vertical line measuring 6 in. long and two shorter horizontal lines, 3 and 5 in. across. Area of retouch l.l. measuring 1 x 2 1/2 in. Retouch center right with two small lines, each 2 in., and an area of retouch measuring 4 x 3 in. in upper center. Subtle stretcher bar marks down the center on the canvas. Original canvas has been lined, and there is some wear and separation from the lining along the tacking edge.
