Lemuel D. Eldred (American, 1848-1921) View of a Clipper Ship at Full Sail Signed "L.D. Eldred" l.r., stamped "F.T. Akin & Co./AGENTS" on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 12 x 16 in. (30.5 x 40.6 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure, loss u.l., surface grime. Provenance: A South Dartmouth whaling family by descent. Circular craquelure around area of loss (approx. 1/8 x 1/8 in.) to u.l. quadrant, minor retouch along frame liner, cleaned around area of signature.
