George Henry Smillie (American, 1840-1921) Coastal Scene Signed and dated "Geo. H. Smillie N.A. 1900" l.l. Oil on canvas, 30 1/4 x 40 in. (76.5 x 101.7 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure, varnish inconsistencies, surface grime. Areas of craquelure in impasto in the sky, particularly in the clouds in u.l. quadrant in an area measuring 9 x 7 inches overall, and in the upper center measuring 4 x 3 inches overall. Canvas deformation in upper corners; discolored, spotty varnish; surface grime.
