School of Jan Abrahamsz Beerstraten (Dutch, 1622-1666) Winter Village with Skaters Unsigned, identified on a presentation plaque and on a label affixed to the frame. Oil on panel, 13 5/8 x 21 3/4 in. (34.5 x 55.5 cm), framed. Condition: Horizontal splits, abrasions, craquelure, alligatoring, surface grime. Three horizontal cracks through the panel. Craquelure and shrinking craquelure, particularly along the horizontal cracks, with scattered minor paint losses there and along the edges of th panel. Scattered nicks and abrasions, including one abrasion measuring 9 inches running diagonally from lower left center towards upper right. Paint surface has alligatoring throughout and discolored varnish. A secondary wood support measuring 6 x 1 1/2 inches has been applied to the reverse, u.r. corner, to stabilize the panel.
