Edward Weston (American, 1886-1958) White Sands, New Mexico, 1941. Extensive annotations in pencil on the reverse. Gelatin silver print, sheet/image size 7 5/8 x 9 1/2 in. (19.3 x 24.0 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Unmounted, subtle scratch-like rubs to surface, minute nicks to edge l.l. and at corner u.l. Provenance: From the collection of Austin Lamont, by family descent. Scattered subtle scratches to surface overall and small spot (1/8 in. diameter) in cloud in upper left quadrant, visible in raking light. Slight curl to sheet. The hand writing on the reverse has not been identified. Several of the lines in this lettering are just visible as raised lines on the image (only visible in very strong raking light). Austin Lamont made the original attribution to Weston. In addition to the inscriptions, there is an inventory number, "1991-17/22/EW52/0810" in pencil on the reverse. The backing mat is inscribed in pencil "NM 41-WS Lengthy notes on back" l.c.
