Seventy-one-piece English Ironstone Partial Dinner Service, with a polychrome pattern of phoenixes on a rock with flowering foliage, comprising twenty-four plates, approx. dia. 9 1/2; nineteen shallow bowls, approx. dia. 9 1/2; seventeen plates, dia. 8; two gilded and shaped single-handled dishes, lg. 9 1/2 and 11 1/4; two gilded double-handled dishes, lg. 11; six oval platters, lg. 10 to 18 1/2; and a creamer, ht. 4 in. This is an assembled set with variations in the colors of white ground and use of enamels. One of the platters is marked Davenport otherwise all bare varying marks for Mason's. Three 9 1/2" dia. plates with damages: one with several footrim chips; one broken in half and cleanly reglued; and one with a rim chip under the glaze. There is also a small chip to the lip of the spout on the jug. All shows scattered, but light, usage wear. No other evidence of any cracks, chips or restorations.
