KPM Porcelain Pate-sur-Pate Charger, Berlin, third quarter 19th century, depicting a seated Venus scribing in a book supported by Cupid, on rose ground with cream border and gilt accents, signed "E. Dietrich," with blue sceptre and red globus cruciger marks, approx. dia. 13 1/2 in., framed. Note: A plaque with similar decoration also signed by Dietrich, and dated 12 July 1890, is in the collection of the National Museum of American History, Washington, D.C. See Bernard Bumpus, Pate-sur-Pate: The Art of Ceramic Relief Decoration, 1849-1992 (London: Barrie & Jenkins Ltd, 1992), p. 192. In very good condition by sight with no cracks, chips or restorations; Not examined out of frame.
