English Ebonized and Burl Walnut Bureau Bookcase, mid-19th century, the upper section with dentil cornice over two ivory-inlaid doors enclosing shelved interior, the protruding lower section with further ivory-inlaid fronts, fold-down writing surface and interior fitted with medial door, drawers, and valanced compartments, over two doors enclosing two short drawers over three shelves, on claw feet, ht. 69 1/4, wd. 36, dp. 20 1/2 in. Age shrinkage and bubbling to veneers, chips and loss to veneer, particularly along bottom left of fold-out writing surface, joint separation, upper section shelves replaced, scattered chips, nicks, and scratches. Lower doors warped.
