Lot of Two Watercolors After Signorelli, Italian School, 20th Century Horace and Virgil Both signed and inscribed, Horace stamped on the reverse. Watercolor on paper, 7 1/8 x 7 1/8 in., framed. Condition: Both with wear and minor paint losses to edges and mild toning to the reverse. N.B. These are copies of details of Luca Signorelli's frescos at the San Brizio Chapel in the cathedral at Orvieto. Horace inscribed in watercolor "Velluti copio -Orazio- di Signorelli del 1499" l.c. and stamped "...Nel.../Velluti Riverito/Custode del duomo di Orvieto/Copio degli Affreschi di Luca Signorelli/del 1499/Nel Duomo di Orvieto/(Italia)" u.l. on the reverse. Virgil signed "R/Velluti" l.l., inscribed "da L. Signorelli 1499" l.r. Both works are identified in inscriptions on the frame backings in a later hand.
