(underlined) u.l., identified on a label from Scribner's Magazine affixed to the frame backing. Oil on canvas, 36 x 28 in. (91.4 x 71.1 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch, minute paint losses at edges. Provenance: Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, New York, to 1919; Mrs. A.N. Wyeth, Needham, Massachusetts, c. 1919; gift to Alfretta Archibald Butterfield, then by descent within the family.
