(25.4 x 32.4 cm), framed. Condition: Minor retouch, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. Born into a family of artists and engravers, Guido Carmignani was encouraged at a very young age to pursue the family trade. Under U.V. examination there are some scattered areas of fluorescence to the lower 1/3 of the composition (ocean area) which may be old restoration or perhaps dirt and mat areas where varnish adhered inconsistently. There are multiple surface imperfections, including an area in the clouds in the u.r. quadrant measuring 3 inches long and about 1 inch across, a surface bump to u.r. edge and an abrasion to c.r. edge.
