British School, 19th Century Ruins of the Noruttun at Sasseram Unsigned, identified l. c. on the mount and on the reverse of the mount. Watercolor on paper, 19 x 24 in. (48.3 x 60.7 cm), framed. Condition: Sheet mounted to supporting paper, mild acid burn and small abrasion l.r. corner of support. Sheet appears to have been mounted to two layers. The first layer was likely original to the work, because occasionally the watercolor brushwork extends over the original sheet onto the mount. The second layer of support is visible through the small hole (1/4 x 3/8 in) located to the l.r. on the primary support. This second layer is also fairly old, judging from the ink inscription in an old-fashioned hand on the reverse. The work is mounted in archival mat, hinged to the backing mat in two places along the top edge. There are paper tape remnants to the recto along the top edge. There is scattered, very minor foxing to the sky.
