Blooms for Books A Floral Interpretation of the Theora Hamblett Landscape, The Cotton Pickers. The arrangement includes red tulips, red hypericum berries, gypsophila 'Overtime', leucadendron 'Safari Sunset', and ming fern. N.B. The inspiration for this arrangement was capturing the texture of cotton and curved rhythms of the soil, trees, and hills. The arrangement makes use of a large-floret variety of gypsophila or 'baby's breath' which articulates individual forms as well as mass. Hypericum berries in a bright hue were chosen to evoke the staccato rhythm of Hamblett's brushwork. The loosely crescent-shaped arrangement is contained by a clay pot which echoes the painting's rectangular framework and is meant to represent the soil. All of the proceeds for this arrangement will benefit the Fine Arts Research Library at the Boston Public Library.
