William Posey Silva (American, 1859-1948) Grand Market Tangiers Signed and dated "WILLIAM P. SILVA 1924" l.l., titled and inscribed "...by William P. Silva" in pencil on the stretcher and identified on a label from Abbott Silva (the artist's son) affixed to the strainer. Oil on canvas, 25 x 30 in. (63.5 x 76.2 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime, craquelure, minor pigment fluorescence. Provenance: A Midwestern library. Craquelure is very fine; no additional condition issues to report.
