Philippe Noyer (French, 1917-1985) Chantier Signed and dated "Philippe Noyer 53" l. l., identified on a label from Julius Fleischmann, Cincinnati, Ohio, and with a partial label from Mirador Galerie d'Art, Paris, affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 23 3/4 x 28 3/4 in. (60.3 x 73.0 cm), framed. Condition: Minor abrasion, retouch, and canvas deformation l.r., craquelure. Superficial scuffs to lower left quadrant. Superficial abrasion to upper right quadrant that extends from the tree leaves at center top down to just above the figure's leg, about 10-1/2 inches overall. Neither the scuffs nor the abrasion appears to disturb the paint surface. Scattered stable craquelure, including one area to center right side that stretches from the cuff on the figure's pant leg to the red bucket on the right, in an area about 12 inches across and about 3/4 inch high.
