K. O. (Knute) Munson (American, 1900-1967) Baking Time/An Illustration for Health Club Baking Powder Signed "KO MUNSON" l.l. Pastel on illustration board, sight size 24 1/4 x 20 7/8 in. (61.6 x 53.0 cm), matted, framed. Condition: Crop marks to margins, window mat glued to margins. N.B. The present work was created c. 1942 for the Rumford Chemical Works, originally of Rumford, Rhode Island. "Health Club Baking Powder" was manufactured by a subsidary of Rumford, the Layton Pure Food Company of Saint Louis, Missouri, and was later changed to "Hearth Club Baking Powder" due to FDA regulations on food label health claims. The mat is now disadhered. The work has ugentle soiling. The can of baking powder is collaged onto the surface of the work, and is curling slightly at its edges.
