Eugene Feldman (American, 1921-1975) Amazone Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 36 x 45 in. (91.4 x 114.3 cm), framed. Condition: Minor surface grime. Provenance: Acquired from the artist by Adeline (nee Lubell) and Mark Naiman, Lincoln, Massachusetts; present owners by family descent. N.B. Feldman was a professor of fine arts at the University of Pennsylvania, and founder of The Falcon Press in Philadelphia, which he operated for almost three decades. He is best known for his experimental photo-offset lithography, and believed that "Man can make art with a machine; offset press and hand press alike can be his brushes."
