John Opper (American, 1908-1994) Untitled Abstraction Signed and dated "John Opper 67" faintly in pen l. r., identified on a label from Jo Aarons Gallery, Rhinebeck, New York, on the backing. Graphite and oil on paper, 11 x 18 1/2 in. (27.9 x 47.0 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Provenance: Estate of Jonas Aarons, New York. Hinged with linen tape to window mat in two places along the short edge. Sheet measures 23-3/8 x 17 in. (59.5 x 43.0 cm). Minor toning to sheet, more pronounced along the edges, with tape residue and abrasions from tape removal along the very lower edge which does not affect the image, measuring about 11 inches across and 3/4 inches wide at its maximum. Two minute pinholes to sheet, right center edge (similar to holes left by a stapler), about 2 inches in from the right edge, that does not affect the image. Subtle handing creases.
