Continental School, 19th Century Two Portrait Miniatures: A Bejeweled Woman and a Gentleman. Watercolor on ivory, the portrait of the woman indistinctly signed and dated "Pa--- 41" l.r., square portrait of an elegantly dressed woman wearing gold jewels set with stones seated before a window with a view of a distant town, (two cracks), 3 1/2 x 3 3/8, in a molded giltwood frame; a round portrait of a gentleman, dated "1839" c.l., (minute moisture spot c.l.), dia. 1 3/4 in., in a lacquered wood frame with brass liner. The signature on the woman is hidden behind the frme aperture, one crack is about 2/3 across the top from the left side going through her forehead, the bottom crack is from the right going through her hand. The small pinhead size moisture spot is to the background just left of man's collar.
