Paint-decorated Pine Six-board Chest, possibly New York, c. 1825, the lift-top lettered "E.M.S." with applied molding above the cutout feet, old grain-painted surface in brown and dark yellow, with green swags above, ht. 25, wd. 41, dp. 17 3/4 in. Note: The underside of the top carved "Cyrus Sherwood 1825" and further inscribed with the same name. There is a record of a Cyrus G. Sherwood born in Greenville, New York, in 1825. minor paint abrasions, stain to top.
